Position Summary:

Life Cycle Engineering's Reliability Consulting Group (RCG) is seeking an Engineering and Maintenance Manager - responsible to ensure plant reliability and continuous improvement by setting the direction and strategy for maintenance, ensuring equipment and facilities are properly maintained and in compliance with all norms and regulations.  This role is also responsible to set the capital plan for the facility, organize reviews, prepare requests, and manage all aspects of projects.
Contract Requirements:
  • 6 months possibly to be extended.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Provide support and guidance to the Maintenance supervisor and his team.
  • Provide strategic direction for the maintenance team.
  • Ensure plant reliability by utilization of corrective and preventative actions, PM program, managing inventories of spare parts, and predictive technologies.
  • Ensure proper prioritization of resources.
  • Determine and setup external resources to support activities and goals.
  • Manage shutdown planning and execution together with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Report relevant KPI's for the department to local and senior management, utilize data and goals for setting new targets and achieving improvement
  • Fully manage capital project execution. 
  • Establish accurate budgets, schedules, scopes, and create capital requests. Manage design, execution, and startup safely, on time, and in budget.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Project Engineer.
  • Provide oversite to any capital project executed in the organization.
  • Develop and implement project management guidelines and tools, technical tools and specifications, PID's, and plant documentation.
  • Determine and setup external resources to support activities and goals.
  • Work together with operational team to support and lead continuous improvements of our assets and asset performance.
  • Provide technical support for operational staff and for R&D/customer projects.
  • Actively involve stakeholders in the scope development, execution, and turnover of projects. 
  • Lead quarterly review and prioritization of capex plans.
  • Regularly communicate to the organization on key project updates.
  • Be a leader in the organization and actively participate in the Safety Program.
  • Ensure process safety concepts stay current and remain functional.
  • Lead the insurance audits or building permit inspections.
  • Able to act as alternative to the Maintenance Supervisor to cover vacations, or other leaves
  • Provide yearly input to create the Eng. & Maintenance department expense budget. 
  • Monitor budget monthly and provide information and any necessary corrective actions for deviations outside of budget.
  • Provide yearly input of any capital expenditure in support of the entire organization.
  • Hiring process (together / HR), train, develop employees with-in the team, including performance reviews.
  • Provide input to performance reviews outside of department.
  • Uphold Human Resource policies and procedures and applicable employment law.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, food science engineer, or related fields. 
  • 10+ years experience in managing large capital projects.
  • 5+ years experience managing teams.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance and reliability.
  • Proven project manager.  Able to handle all aspects of a project, whether on own or working with engineering firms and vendors.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Able to multi-task
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive oral and written skills.
  • Computer skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with spray drying processes, dairy processes, & related utilities equipment
  • Experience working in a maintenance and reliability department
  • Project Management certifications
  • Working knowledge of process safety concepts, particularly with explosion protection and fire protection.
  • Familiarity with plant maintenance software's and implementation.
  • Background in 6 sigma or other related processes
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Travel (up to 10%) is required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs., rarely.
  • Job requires:  confined sitting, standing and walking, sometimes; finger/hand dexterity, frequently.
