FDRMC Engineering Technician (Combat Systems)

Position Summary:
Life Cycle Engineering is looking for qualified personnel to join our team. This is a future overseas employment opportunity with Surface Radar, Anti-Submarine Warfare, AEGIS, and Vertical Launching system positions in Rota, Spain to work on shipboard systems in any vessel at FDRMC, or the deployed ships in the 5th and 6th Fleet AORs. You will provide technical support for the evaluation and correction of Fleet HM&E equipment/system casualties and provide technical assistance for repairs or replacement of malfunctioning or failed components, units or subsystems. Additionally, you will perform assessments and maintenance of shipboard systems/equipment as well as informal training to ship's force on maintenance and overhaul processes on shipboard systems/equipment.


Contract Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Independently or leading a team of technicians troubleshooting, repairing or testing U.S. Navy ship structural, mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment/systems.
  • Independently or leading a team accomplishing formal material condition assessments of U.S. Navy ship's systems.
  • Identify and document identified discrepancies, design problems, logistic support issues, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and provide on-the job training (OJT) to Ships Force personnel.
  • Use of the following, or similar, workload databases: Microsoft Office products, NMD, minimum of read access rights on Electronic Departure From Specifications (eDFS).
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics and plans and the ability, as Subject Matter Expert (SME), to troubleshoot, analyze and provide distance support for listed equipment.
  • (Surface Radar) Within the last ten years, a minimum of four (4) years full-time hands-on technical experience in the maintenance, installation, test, or repair of surface search radar systems, specifically with SPS-67(v)5 and SPS-73.
  • (Surface Radar) Within the last ten years, a minimum of two (2) years full-time technician experience leading maintenance, installation, test, or repair of surface search radar systems, specifically with SPS-67(v)5 and SPS-73.
  • (Anti-Submarine Warfare) Within the last ten years, a minimum of four (4) years full-time hands-on technical experience in the maintenance, installation, test, or repair of SSQ-89(v)15.
  • (Anti-Submarine Warfare) Within the last ten years, a minimum of two (2) years full-time technician experience leading maintenance, installation, test, or repair of SSQ-89(v)15.
  • (AEGIS) Within the last ten years, a minimum four (4) years full-time hands-on technical experience in the maintenance, installation, test, or repair of AEGIS computers, peripherals, networking, and display systems including AN/UYK-43 computer and AEGIS standard cabinets.
  • (AEGIS) Within the last ten years, a minimum of two (2) years full-time technician experience leading maintenance, installation, test, or repair of AEGIS computers, peripherals, networking and display systems including AN/UYK-43 computer and AEGIS standard cabinets.
  • (Vertical Launching System) Within the last ten years, a minimum four (4) years full-time hands-on technical experience in the assessment, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of MK 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS).
  • (Vertical Launching System) a minimum of two (2) years full-time technician experience leading maintenance, installation, test, or repair of MK 41 VLS.
  • (Vertical Launching System) possess and submit proof of a current VLS System Maintenance Technician (SMT) certification (Navy Enlisted Classification code 0981) obtained in accordance with NAVSEA Standing Instruction 86-2B.
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • A team player who exhibits a high level of integrity and professionalism in all situations.
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and standing.
  • Maneuvering around tight spaces in a shipboard environment.
  • Work safely, following government policies, procedures and work practices in a positive, cooperative, and productive manner.
