Estate Planning/Probate Paralegal
Supporting 2 to 3 Attorneys

This position requires a paralegal certificate and a minimum of 5 years' experience with both probate and estate planning procedures in a law firm setting. The person hired for this position will be expected to: draft estate planning documents, health care directives, general transfer agreements and letters to clients explaining documentation; prepare estate planning flow charts; perform asset transfers including preparation and recording of deeds, assessor forms, assignments, stock transfers and securities account transfer documentation; post death trust administration including notifications, correspondence, pleadings for instructions, collection of assets information and valuations, and transfer of assets to sub-trusts; prepare all probate pleadings, including initial petitions and supporting documents, collection and reporting of asset information, general probate administration and drafting of petitions for preliminary and/or final distribution; prepare pleadings to institute and administer conservatorship and guardianship estates. Experience in preparation of accounts of financial activities for trust administrations, probates, conservatorships and guardianships, including allocations of principal and income a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office applications are required. This position requires exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. A solid work ethic, impeccable attendance and punctuality, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are critical. A positive attitude, the ability to set priorities and to work under pressure, and the ability to establish a good rapport with firm attorneys and clients are vital.
Candidates not possessing a paralegal certificate or the required minimum experience, including experience with the programs, will not be considered.
